James H. Carroll was born in Florida and started inventing things at a remarkably young age. Jim remembers watching his father make things that amazed him. He has been granted several patents in different fields, including automobile, plumbing, hunting, ham radio, and baby products. He does not take credit for his insight in creating new products and believe it is truly a gift from God. God blessed him with an imagination to see and create things. Jim was having lunch with a golf buddy and asked him about his last game? His buddy looked at Jim with an irritated face and said that he had been spending more time at the driving range with his golf aid. He was trying to lower his strokes by having a consistent set-up and improve his golf swing. Then he said, but when I go to play it usually takes me several strokes to find my sweet spot because I don’t have my aid to help me. Jim responded that “Maybe I should make an aid that we can use for practice or play”. Jim’s buddy then responded with a big smile, “Now that would be a game changer for sure”. Jim thought about what he said and took it as a personal challenge to invent a golf aid that could be used on all clubs in a legal game of golf.
Jim worked on his concept to create a golf swing aid that would help players set-up consistently at address to lower their strokes and improve their game. An aid that you can practice and play with and that you could not lose or forget at home. For several years, he tested different designs and sourced feedback from players and golf pros. After many improvements, you could place his totally new invention on any golf club. It enables a golfer to:
He submitted his new invention to U.S.G.A. It was approved by the U.S.G.A. for all games of golf in the USA and Europe. Jim also filed for a patent in the USA and in 150 other countries.
Jim established Straightline Golf LLC to share his one of kind Shaft Lean Alignment System with other players who wanted to excel in golf and lower their handicap. He truly hopes that his breakthrough in shaft lean perfection will help you in mastering the game of golf and more enjoy it.
